Terchova, Slovakia August 2011

We spent a wonderful weekend exploring Terchova and the surrounding region, about 2 hours north of Bratislava.  We hiked through Janosikove Diery, one of the most fun hikes I've ever done.  We also visited the Vratna ski area and checked out Orava Castle, the most interesting castle I've been to in Slovakia so far.  We stayed in a log cabin-style pension complete with a bbq area and spa!  It was a great weekend spent enjoying the Slovak countryside.  Photos to come!

Brno, Czech Republic July 2011

One weekend we decided to drive up to Brno for the day (it's only an hour from Bratislava).  While we were there, we checked out Moravsky Kras, a really cool cave system - Moravsky Kras.  We took a boat trip through the depths of the cave, awesome!  Particularly when they turn off the lights and it's PITCH BLACK.  Wow.  Brno itself is a really nice college town, we enjoyed it and hope to return another weekend in the future!  Photos to come!

Alghero Sardinia July 2011

We decided to fly to Sardinia, Italy for a weekend beach break from Bratislava.  We had no expectations except to lounge on the beach for a few days.  We ended up having such a great time, we are considering going back!  La dolce vita...what's not to love?  Our favorite part was renting a Vespa and spending the day zipping up and down the coast, soooooo fun!!!

Copenhagen, Denmark July 2011

We loved Copenhagen!  I (Alex) was in Copenhagen three weekends out of four, one for work and two coming/going to/from our cruise.  I particularly appreciate how the Danish are so aware of sustainability and environmental issues.  Everyone there rides bikes, uses public transit, recycles, use green energy, etc.  I felt like I was in the future!  I will add some pics later....
